Our Impressions: The Alsawlajan Hotel is a nice option for a higher level 3 star hotel in Tripoli. It is very clean and the staff is friendly. The restaurant up at the top of the hotel has a great view overlooking the beach, and the beach is just a few minutes walk from the front door of the hotel. It’s a brand new hotel, and the decor is simple, but classy. We would highly recommend The Alsawlajan Hotel if you are looking for a nicer 3 star level hotel!

Our Impressions: The Zumit Hotel is located in the old medina of Tripoli right next to the famous Marcus Aurelius Arch.  It has easy access by car to the front door. The hotel was built in 1816 and was originally used during the Ottoman era for traders.  Much history can be experienced in this hotel.  It is simple and has more of a “riad” type feel lined with tile and traditional decorations.  The rooms are simple, but clean.  One thing to note about the Zumit Hotel is that they do not offer single, twin beds.  Only double beds are available, but a single cot may possibly be added in a couple of the rooms.

Should you be looking for a hotel with character and history in the heart of the medina of Tripoli, we would highly recommend the Zumit Hotel to you.  The staff is friendly and courteous and speaks great English.

Our Impressions: The Al Khan is located in the old medina of Tripoli in the heart of the city. The hotel describes itself as a “boutique hotel” and was converted from several private homes.  It is unique in style with beautiful Turkish architecture including large pillars and a courtyard open to the sky.  In winter, you will find fire bowls lit up for warmth and possibly live Andalusian music being played on the oud in the center salon.

The Al Khan Hotel is equipped with fire exits, an electronic safety system, and handrails on the two staircases.  The staff speak great English and are very helpful.

In the summer, a small pool is available and is located by a lovely restaurant, which is also open to the public.  We would recommend the Al Khan Hotel if you are looking for a classy, clean, unique setting in which to spend your time in Tripoli.

Our Impressions: The Al Waddan is located overlooking the harbor of Tripoli and easily accessible from the city center. The hotel is run by the Intercontinental Hotel Group and caters mainly to business travelers. The staff is very professional and friendly. The original building was built in 1938 but has been restored to a modern hotel. The Al Waddan would be great for someone looking for a business hotel in an excellent location.

Our Impressions: The Arayan Hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from Martyr’s Square. It appears nice and clean with brown, leather furniture in the lobby. Unfortunately the receptionist did not speak English, but was nonetheless friendly and helpful. The Arayan Hotel would be a good option for someone wanting more of a budget hotel.

Our Impressions: The Al Batra Hotel is clean and classy and is located about 10 minutes walk from Martyr’s Square. The receptionist was very friendly, but did not speak English. The suites were equipped with a large bed, an electronic massage chair, Jacuzzi showers, toiletries, 2 large TV’s, a hot pot, a sitting area, and a computer. The double rooms also had a little sitting area, a hot pot, and a Jacuzzi bathtub. The Al Batra Hotel is lovely, and is a great 4 star option centrally located in Tripoli!

Our Impressions: The Borg al Madina Hotel has a classy feel to it and is located about 10 minutes walk from Martyr’s Square. There is a security door upon entrance into the hotel and the receptionist spoke excellent English. All the rooms felt incredibly clean and had extra touches, such as toiletries in the bathrooms, to provide for your comfort. The suites were equipped with a king-sized bed, an electronic massage chair, Jacuzzi showers, bathrobes, a hot water pot for making hot drinks, etc. The Borg al Madina Hotel is great if you’re looking for a higher 4 star option!
