Libya – Enjoying the Entertainment

One of the best ways to get to know a culture is to wander around the city and observe. See what they eat, how they dress, what they do, and what they enjoy. My family went down near Martyrs’ Square yesterday afternoon to enjoy the local culture…the cotton candy, green tea with almonds, horse rides and…

Gathering the crowd
There performing in the garden & square was Libya’s own “Evil Knievel.” Revving the engine, popping wheelies, and saluting the bystanders, this young Libyan man was pleasing the local crowd. Cell phones were out taking video clips and recording the day. It was a lot of fun to watch this guy flying around… (Read More…)

A Visit to The Radisson Blu

This morning I had the opportunity to visit The Radisson Blu Hotel, otherwise known as the Al Mahary Hotel, here in Tripoli.  It is a classy 5 star hotel, and is one of the leading hotels in all of Libya catering to business travel. The Radisson is located just off the main highway running along the beach, and all of it’s rooms either overlook the city of Tripoli or the beautiful harbor of the Mediterranean Sea. I would highly recommend it as a place to stay should you come to Tripoli on business!

Due to the recent events in Libya, The Radisson prides itself in the level of security that they try to maintain in their hotel. There are security guards visible all around the hotel, and upon arrival, you must pass through a scanned security checkpoint. (Read More…)

Libya Desert Travel – Coming Soon

One of the highlights of Libya is the amazing Sahara desert. From the rolling dunes to the authentic oasis, Libya’s desert is a must see for travelers. At this point in time, we have been advised to steer our clients away from the desert areas until the security is fully restored in Libya. Most of our Libya Tours offer desert options, however, we do have some excellent tours that focus on the northern coast of Libya.

When will the desert be open?
My local partner here in Libya is from the south…so he has great insights into this region. He says that the southern areas of the desert should be ready for visits in the next few months but he said he would let me know. (Read More…)

One of the men had a letter from the immigration department and his host business stating that the visa had been approved. The letter from the immigration officials in Libya was written in Arabic with his name and passport number and the visa approval number. (Read More…)
